Extending the submission date

We've received an avalanche of paper extension requests. We've attempted to accommodate this request by extending the submission due date to this Friday. But as of this Friday is definitely "pens down" --- there can be no more extensions as the program and sessions chairs must get to the hard work of reviewing the papers and preparing the sessions for the conference.

Designers in Flux

Kevin McCullagh makes some interesting observations at Core 77 regarding the state of Deisgn and Designers in this time of "Flux".

He suggests, among other ideas, 4 ways in which designers can deal with change.

1. Adopt an agile perspective
Groundbreakers have an ability to see the world both as it actually is and how it could be.

2. Spot gaps
...out for disconnects and schisms.

3. Make new connections
Quit navel gazing for one—break out of your network of work and college-mates, meet new types of people and discover new perspectives.

4. Teach yourself
Definers of new fields are often self-taught and have a broad range of knowledge.

Paper Submissions due this Friday

Papers submissions are due this Friday. We have received some fantastic papers thus far and look forward to more submissions. If you are still questioning whether or not you should submit a paper for the conference, I encourage you to contact the Program Chairs at: chairs "at" dux2007.org. They will review your idea and help you through the submission process this week.
