General Feedback

Hello all,

The conference is now a week behind us. We hope that the content and experience still lingers in your mind. I find myself continuing to think about Tom de Zengotita's talk regarding our mediated lives as well as talk from the MediaLab regarding self expression and visualization of profiles within Second Life using virtual/physical architecture.

What continues to linger on for you?

Conference Tutorials

We've been extremely excited about our tutorials and the caliber of content and people involved. From 24 hours of cartooning to rethinking UX Management its difficult to choose one session to attend. I highly recommend taking a look at the agenda and participating in the conference to its fullest.

http://dux2007.com/attend/tutorials.php

This sounds like a hard sell, but honestly these are great tutorials, I only wish I had the time to attend them along with you.

See you at the conference.

Extending the submission date

We've received an avalanche of paper extension requests. We've attempted to accommodate this request by extending the submission due date to this Friday. But as of this Friday is definitely "pens down" --- there can be no more extensions as the program and sessions chairs must get to the hard work of reviewing the papers and preparing the sessions for the conference.

Designers in Flux

Kevin McCullagh makes some interesting observations at Core 77 regarding the state of Deisgn and Designers in this time of "Flux".

He suggests, among other ideas, 4 ways in which designers can deal with change.

1. Adopt an agile perspective
Groundbreakers have an ability to see the world both as it actually is and how it could be.

2. Spot gaps
...out for disconnects and schisms.

3. Make new connections
Quit navel gazing for one—break out of your network of work and college-mates, meet new types of people and discover new perspectives.

4. Teach yourself
Definers of new fields are often self-taught and have a broad range of knowledge.
