August and Semptember Announcements
WOW!! August and September are going to be busy months for the ACM and other organizations around the area. We're kicking off the new season with a vengeance.
The SIGGRAPH is having it's 35th International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques. Details are:
Conference is Monday through Friday, August 11 - 15.
Exhibition is Tuesday through Thursday, August 12 - 14.

Also happening in August is the Southland Technology Conference, sponsored by several Southern California chapters of PMI, QAI, and AITP. Details are:
The conference will be held at the Westin in Long Beach on August 22nd & 23rd.

Coming in September:
First, on Monday, September 8, we will be having our monthly council meeting, followed by a professional mixer at El Segundo Fish Company (Fishco). Details are:
Council meeting starts at 5:30 PM, in the conference room at Loyola Marymount University's Doolan Hall. Although only council business is discussed, members are encouraged to attend.
Professional Mixer Meeting starts at 6:30 PM, at the El Segundo Fish Company
Next, on Wednesday, September 10, we are having our yearly kickoff meeting with the AITP, at which the speaker will be Peter Coffee, Director of Platform Research at Salesforce.com. At this event, Mr. Coffee provides his Annual Forecast about key technologies in Computing, Communications and Business Applications. It is a always a very interesting program. Details are:
The meeting will be at the Spitfire Grill next to Santa Monica Airport. Cost will be $35 per person for non-members, $25 per person for members or ACM/AITP, or $15 per person if you skip dinner and just come for the program. Contact Mike Walsh or B.J. Johnson of the ACM, or Roger Lux of the AITP to sign up, or go to the AITP Event Page. Time will probably be 6:30 for dinner, and 7:30 for the talk, but may change slightly. Please check the back here or at the AITP site for time updates.
Finally, Dr. Stephanie August of Loyola Marymount University has offered us an opportunity to hear a talk by David L. Roberts. He will be presenting some of his work on Declarative Optimization-based Drama Management (DODM) architecture for computer games. Details are:
He will be at LMU on Tuesday, September 23 at 6:30 PM, in Doolan hall room 222. The talk is free, but seating is somewhat limited. More details are on the announcement flyer.

The link itself should work now, but it still points to an empty event list when I last tried it.
Everything is working now. I made my reservation for the meeting and paid via the Acteva page. Worked great!
